Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ.

As we are drawing closer to the year 2021 ending and, the beginning of new year 2022, we are made to think what awaits us in the days to come especially in the context of Covid-19. The Covid-19 situation is still fresh in our minds and living with much apprehension. However, we are moving ahead carrying out the normal activities wishing that we don’t experience again the severity of the last 2 years Covid situation.

The Covid-19 is not over yet. It will keep lingering for years to come. On our part we have to keep vigil and take care of oneself by following the SOP (Standard Operative Procedure) prescribed by the competent authorities. The bad experiences we have had due to the Covid have not been erased in the lives of many whose loved ones became victim and have lost their lives. The emotional turmoil, the pain and suffering one have had gone through needs to be taken care of even now. God forbid that third wave should come but the damage that has been done in the individuals, families, communities, the church and the impact on the society at large are still looming over us. Our moral support is not enough. It should go beyond our sympathy, prayer, and advocacy. The church is challenged to act as ‘Good Samaritan’ by extending help to the bereaved, broken hearted single parents and orphans. The church should be ready to reach out to such people as part and parcel of Christian mission and ministry. It is called to be active participants in reaching out to people and not simply being passive spectators. With a great hope in God that under His control, the Covid-19 will slow down and we move forward carrying out our daily activities and programmes. The CBCNEI for the last 2 years (2020-2021) could not carry out its activities with obvious reason but with the sign of improvement we have enhanced the activities and programmes.

Under the CBCNEI we have six hospitals and four nursing schools. We are thankful to our hospitals for handling the Covid situations efficiently and making a great impact in their respective localities and communities and the society-at-large. The CBCNEI hospitals as para-church and institutions has played a great role in the Covid-19 pandemic situation and thus fulfilling the wholistic mission and ministry of the church.

The Lord bless all.

Yours Sincerely
Rev Prof Akheto Sema
General Secretary, CBCNEI
